BITA RAD
As a designer of a luxury brand, a professor of design at a fine arts college, and founder of a health and wellness company, Bita Rad brings a wealth of talent and experience to her projects. Bita Rad’s life has been a colorful pursuit of excellence through her five senses, and each of her business ventures and life experiences over the last 15 years have been key ingredients in the perfect recipe for her to derive 5th Sensory.

Bita grew up with two artists as parents who celebrated her love for art and design since childhood. She earned a prestigious placement from the Admissions Committee at Otis College of Art and Design, and was permitted to skip the first year of studies, graduating in three years instead of four. At 23, she was selected as a designer for Donna Karan and moved to Singapore as one of a team of five designers to help relocate the company to Asia. During her time as designer for the brand, she also created “color & concept” showrooms seasonally, which were immersive experiences into the theme of each collection. Walls, floors, and ceilings were meticulously designed to create an environment based on the theme of each collection, like a scene from a movie, where the collection could come to life. There, the design team would sit and sketch the collection, and once it was complete, the clothes would be integrated creatively into the space. Global buyers would come into this space to view and purchase the collection for their stores, and visual merchandisers would study the room to create the decor of each of their stores globally for each season. It was during this time that Bita’s love for color therapy, music therapy, and the creation of immersive experiences flourished.

As a part of her job, she traveled throughout Asia and Europe on “research and inspiration trips” where she would meet craftsmen, discover flea markets, and study concept stores and boutique hotels. She has since traveled to 28 countries, the majority on her own, collecting resources, global music, and exploring the different flavors of each culture.

By 26, she was leading her own design team of twenty. By 30, she created her own brands, one in fashion (www.Piece-Collection.com) and the other in health and beauty (www.ElixirByBita.com). Through her love for nature, she created her own brand of essential oils, using the intellect of nature and the human body to curate emotions and healing through the sense of smell.

At 31, she became an adjunct professor of Design at Otis, teaching advanced design to students in their final year of college.

Her background in branding, space design, merchandising, and aromatherapy all go hand in hand as skills she has mastered to create the Brand Experience Upgrade.
